The hunter’s funeral
This piece is a personal project inspired by the third movement of Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 1. This movement, a funeral march, is a bizarre and beautiful musical interpretation of an old Austrian folk tale. In the story, the animals of the forest hold a joyous and humorous funeral procession for the hunter, carrying his body through the woods. My illustration tries to capture this whimsical and unsettling scene, with the animals celebrating their freedom.
